Frequently Asked Questions

Long Service Dinner

What is the Long Service Dinner?

The Long Service Dinner is an event hosted by Georgia Tech Human Resources to honor and celebrate faculty and staff who have reached significant service milestones, specifically at the 20-year mark and every 5-year milestone thereafter, during the past fiscal year.

What can I expect at the Long Service Dinner?

The dinner will feature a program that includes addresses from the executive leadership team, student performers, acknowledgment of milestone recipients, group photos, and opportunities for networking and socializing with colleagues. Dinner and drinks will be served.

Who is invited to attend the Long Service Dinner?

All full-time faculty and staff who have reached 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, etc. years of consecutive, benefits-eligible service to Georgia Tech within this fiscal year (July 2024– June 2025) are invited to attend and bring one guest. Institute executive leaders are also invited to attend.

Can retirees attend the Long Service Dinner?

Georgia Tech values the contributions of retirees and seeks to honor their dedication to the Institute. Retirees are eligible to attend the Long Service Dinner, just like active employees, if they reached their milestone of consecutive benefits-eligible service this fiscal year, while still an active employee. The event invite will be sent to your Georgia Tech email address if you qualify.

Do I need to RSVP for the Long Service Dinner?

Yes, all invited faculty and staff are required to RSVP “yes” or “no” for the dinner. This helps us ensure we have an accurate count for catering and space arrangements. An email invite to eligible individuals was sent on February 19, 2025 from recognition@hr.gatech.edu. RSVPs close on March 17, 2025 and we cannot accept late additions.

Can I bring a guest to the Long Service Dinner?

All service milestone honorees can bring one guest to the event, but you must RSVP your guest prior to the RSVP deadline. Please do not bring a guest whom you have not RSVP’d, as we will not have additional meals or space available for them.

What if I am unable to attend the Long Service Dinner?

While we encourage all milestone recipients to attend and be recognized, we understand that scheduling conflicts may arise. If you are unable to attend the Long Service Dinner, please RSVP “no” as soon as possible, so our planning team can make arrangements. Due to space limitations, we are not able to add you to the invite list in future years if you miss the event this year.

What if I RSVP'd "yes" and can no longer attend?

We’re sorry you will not be able to join us. Please let our team know at recognition@hr.gatech.edu as soon as possible that you need to change your RSVP. This ensures our catering and space arrangements are accurate.

Can I stream the event online?
